Opening the Saturday after Thanksgiving
It is a great honor that our farm has been selected to provide the White House Christmas tree in 2009, as winners of the Grand Champion Christmas Tree Award at the National Christmas Tree Association annual conference. (See more photos on our home page.)
After the farm won the honor at the NCTA conference, a team from the White House toured the West Virginia farm and reviewed a number of "candidate" trees. The team selected this 19 foot Fraser fir to be displayed inside the White House.
This is a record fourth win for Eric and Gloria Sundback, who established the farm in the late 1960s, and recently turned over the retail business to Dan Taylor and Brian Holler, who have worked with and learned from the Sundbacks for many years.
Trees from the Sundback Farm were display twice during the administration of President Ronald Reagan and once during President Jimmy Carter's administration.
